A guide to shift from WhatsApp API to WhatsApp (Mobile App)

Here's how to remove your number from the WhatsApp API and connect it to the standard WhatsApp mobile app:

Downgrading from WhatsApp API:

  1. Log in to your Facebook Business Manager.

  2. Navigate to Business Settings.

  3. Select WhatsApp Accounts from the left-hand menu.

  4. Click on Settings under your WhatsApp account.

  5. Choose WhatsApp Manager.

  6. Click on your company name.

  7. Find the Phone Number section and click on it.

  8. Look for the Delete icon and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm downgrading.

Important Notes:

  • You cannot remove the number until 30 days after sending the last paid message through the API.

  • Downgrading won't delete your WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app.

Connecting to Standard WhatsApp App:

Once the downgrading process is complete (after 30 days), you can use the same phone number with the regular WhatsApp mobile app. Here's what to do:

  1. Download and install the WhatsApp app on your phone if you haven't already.

  2. Open the app and verify your phone number using a verification code sent via SMS.

That's it! Your phone number should now be connected to the standard WhatsApp mobile app.
