Designing an RCS Message Template

Design an RCS message template by selecting a format, adding personalized content like media and actions

Rich Communication Services (RCS) is an advanced messaging service that allows businesses in India to engage users with interactive, media-rich messages. This guide walks you through creating and designing an RCS message template.

Designing an RCS Message Template

Step 1: Create a Template

- Navigate to the "Templates" section and select "Create Template."

Step 2: Select Template Type

- RCS supports the following message formats:

  - Text Messages: Basic text (≤160 characters, no buttons).

  - Rich Media: Images, videos, or audio files.

  - Carousels: Scrolling cards with images and action buttons.

Step 3: Add Content

- Header: Choose either text or media. For optimal performance, keep images under 1MB.

- Body: Write the main message. Keep it concise, preferably under 640 characters. Messages under 160 characters without buttons fall under basic message pricing. Anything over 160 characters or with buttons will be priced as rich messages.

- Rich Media: Ensure media is optimized for mobile use (e.g., 16:9 ratio for videos). Supported file formats include .jpg, .png, .gif, .mp4, .webm, with a maximum size of 10MB.

- Suggested Actions (Optional): Add quick reply buttons or actions like opening a URL, calling a number, or sharing a location.

Step 4: Personalization

- Use variable fields to personalize messages (e.g., customer names or order details).

Step 5: Save the Template

- After completing the template, save it in the dashboard.
